King's Crown Shakespeare Troupe

Troupe History

Our particular brand of Shakespeare has sometimes been called "nomadic," but we prefer to think of it as "too big for the stage." All of our performances are free and take place in the great outdoors, staged at different locations around Columbia's Morningside Heights campus. (Yes, the play is outside, and it moves around...) This roving art form requires audiences to be quick of foot and of mind in order to follow the show.

In addition to our annual spring Shakespeare show, we also produce a yearly fall show which is not necessarily Shakespeare nor necessarily outdoors; however, it is necessarily free, and we feel it still embodies the commitment to tasteful, quality theatre for which our group (commonly referred to as "our little family") is famous. To read about some of our past shows, visit our archives page.

The King's Crown Shakespeare Troupe is an equal-opportunity acting company that does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, gender, or talent; however, we will not tolerate those persons not intent on having fun. If we sound like the group for you, then it's a good bet that you are the actor, designer, or technician for us. For more information on how to get involved, contact the fat cats on the King's Crown Executive Board. (krc2101@columbia.edu)
